Senior Consultant · Nashville, TN
Entertainment Finance · Music Technology · Operations
I'm a CPA and 30-year music industry operator specializing in entertainment finance, operations, and technology. My superpower is walking into a music or entertainment company, finding what's broken in the financial and operational infrastructure, and building the solution — at every level, from startup labels to global entertainment companies.
Let's TalkWhat I Do
Companies come to me when something in their finance or operations isn't working and they can't figure out why — or they know why but don't know how to fix it. I work with a small number of clients at a time, retainer or project basis, primarily remote. When I engage, I bring the mindset of someone who has owned the outcome — because I have.
Core Expertise
Most people in this space are either finance executives or technology people. I'm both — and I've worked alongside the creative and legal sides long enough to speak all of those languages fluently. That combination is genuinely rare.
Financial infrastructure, FP&A, multi-entity consolidation, investor reporting, and budgeting for music and live entertainment companies.
Royalty accounting system selection, implementation, and optimization. Label and publishing royalties, catalog valuation, and post-acquisition income processing.
Enterprise ERP advisory and migration support — SAP, NetSuite, and beyond. I have run these programs from the inside, not advised from the outside.
Due diligence, catalog valuation, data ingestion infrastructure, and full operational integration of acquired music assets.
Data warehouse architecture, ETL pipeline design, and global reporting unification for entertainment companies operating across markets.
Senior operational leadership for music and entertainment companies in growth, transition, or post-acquisition complexity — without the full-time overhead. Rick is a Tennessee licensed CPA with 30 years of entertainment industry experience.
Back office buildout, team development, policy and process design, and operational infrastructure for labels at every stage of growth.
Financial management, contract review, and operational counsel for high-net-worth entertainers and their management teams.
Operational and financial infrastructure for PE-backed music and entertainment companies, including compliance, reporting, and systems integration.
30 Years in the Room
I've been in this industry through cassettes, CDs, Napster, iTunes, streaming, and AI. The format changes. The operational problems don't.

How I Engage
I work with a small number of clients at any given time. Engagements are retainer or project-based, delivered primarily remotely from Nashville, with in-person availability when the work calls for it.
I get oriented quickly, ask the right questions, and identify the highest-leverage problems before recommending anything.
I don't produce deliverables and move on. I work alongside your team until the solution is built and operating.
100% capable of full-engagement remote delivery. Occasional in-person when the work requires it.
I deliberately limit concurrent engagements so every client gets genuine attention and capacity.
Start the Conversation
If you're building something, scaling something, or trying to fix something in the finance or operations layer of a music or entertainment business — that's the conversation I'm interested in having.
